Got the same call 10 minutes ago, I’m in Ireland. Rang my Telecom provider and they said I’m off the list. They told me to ring some agency here which I did. I said about the call telling me I’d won a cruise and just before I said anymore the operator said ….press 9 yeah I know that one! He said when they ring again press 9 and tell the operator I’ve no credit card and that’ll stop them!

they called me about a free cruise.i fell for it(i live in the yukon)i pressed 9 as told to do i got this guy who asked what number i pressed 7,8,or 9 i told him 9 the line switched and some strange phone sounds began to click and pop. i promptly hungup.i hope my phone is not in some kind of loop now.

Screw THIS COMPANY

I received a call from a Dallas # (972-830-1800) which I googled and came up with an ” Aegis Communications ” Telemarketers, in Irving Tx. That was last evening, today it was the 214-279-0990 !! Damn they have no shame !!!!

Got this call in Mississippi, and after a little research found there are many incarnations of this company and its scams. Check out “Account Ledger Solutions” and the 800 number “800-361-4140″ given to me by their rep to see more. (Google pulls up quite a history.) DNC registry has worked very well for me over time, but can’t protect against random dialers.

I answered the call from this number. They identified themselves as Card members Associates and were selling discount mortgages. Very rude women hung up when I asked questions. A better solution would have bee to ask what her number was. The originating number does not function.

Instead, try this, when you push the button for more information, when they answer and ask if they can help you with your vacation, credit card balance, etc. Tell them yes, by all means please, let them speak for a moment, taking down the company information, and then ask if you can just speak to the manager to verify some information first before going ahead with accepting the offer. The manager will promptly come, and tell them to remove your number from the calling list as they are in violation if the FCC rules governing telemarketing service. If you’ve taken down the name of the company, this would be a good time to say that name, as well as the managers name if you remembered to catch it.

Edmonton Canada, getting calls at least once per day from these guys. They also are now using an UNLISTED number that shows up as unknown name / unknown number on the call display. They called with the unknown number and 20 minutes later they called on the texas 214 number. Getting quite annoying.

7 Jul 06 @ 5:35 EDT in Florida, my answering machine recorded their message, about 6.xx% interest rate. “Press 9 for more info, press 8 to be removed.”, which does no good on a recorded message. Even if I was a sucker who wanted to give them my info, I couldn’t call them back. CID (landline) shows 214-279-0990 UNAVAILABLE. I’m on the DNC list.

I just got a call from this number, answered and then pressed 9 because i was guaranteed i had just won a caribbean cruise (obviously a scam but i like to play with telemarketers). The phone rung through and a guy answered and asked for my name so I said “well who’s this?” and he proceeded to yell at me for pressing 9 and then refusing to give my name. Hahaha, don’t even bother folks…

called my florida no. at 1:42 p.m. july 6, 2006. as usual, I just turn background noises off, lift phone and wait until they hang up. DNC appears to be nothing but BS.

I got the same call today about the cruise, my suspicion is that this is a scam to make calls on someone else’s phone bill. My friend once recieved a very expensive bill for a call to china on her line. She doesnt know anyone in China let alone call outside of Canada. Anyways, I hung up. Whatever you do don’t press nine, it’s better to be safe.

I had a missed call from 241.279.0990 on my landline (area code: 405), which is registered on the “do not call” list.

I went to Google since I don’t know thephone number and found this web page.

Please include me in the complaint, and contact me by e-mail should you require additional info.

Andy Rooney’s Tips for Telemarketers:

Three Little Words That Work !!
(1)The three little words are: “Hold On, Please…”

Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would
make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.
Then when you eventually hear the phone company’s “beep-beep-beep” tone, you know it’s time to go back
and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task.
These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting.

(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?
This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a
person answers the phone.
This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a “real” sales person to call back and get
someone at home.
What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately start hitting your #
button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialed the call and it
kicks your number out of their system.
Since doing this, my phone calls have decreased dramatically.

Got myself a couple of calls from this number… called Bell Canada to look into it. They’ll block the number from calling me, but that’s it! I used my Skype phone (free outgoing calls right now, BTW) to call the 214-279-0990 number… and some guy’s voice said: “Sorry, the toll-free number you have dialled is disconnected” But it sounds like some guy’s answering machine-type thing that just doesn’t accept messages! Hmmmmm….. I’d say we track down these guys and send ‘em a flaming bag of poop.
